Take a peek at our exclusive interview with the talented singer/songwriter and producer “Oleksa”

Q: Can you please tell our readers your real name as well as your stage name?

A: My real name is Oleksandra, and my artist name is Oleksa. It comes naturally from my name and feels like the most authentic representation of who I am as both a person and an artist.

Q: How old are you?

A: I am 22 years old.

Q: Where are you from and where were you born?

A: I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and spent most of my life there before moving to the United States. I am currently based in Miami, Florida, but Ukraine will always be a huge part of who I am and my creative identity.

Q: At what age did you start making music?

A: Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up singing and exploring different creative outlets, but I started taking music seriously as an artist in my late teens. Over time it became more than a hobby and turned into something I wanted to dedicate my life to.

Q: What genre of music do you particularly love? Jazz? Hip-Hop? RnB?

A: I listen to many different genres, but I have always been drawn to R&B, alternative pop and electronic music. I love emotional vocals, atmospheric production and songs that tell a story. Those influences can definitely be heard in my music.

Q: Who is your favourite artist and why?

A: It’s difficult to choose just one artist because my favourites change over time. I admire artists who are not afraid to be vulnerable and authentic. I am inspired by performers who create their own worlds through music, visuals and storytelling rather than simply following trends.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: Outside of music I enjoy travelling, discovering new places. I also enjoy spending time by the ocean in Miami and finding inspiration in everyday life.

Q: Do you play any musical instrument?

A: I have studied music in different ways over the years. Recently I have been learning piano and I have also taken DJ lessons, which helped me better understand music, rhythm, arrangement and live performance. I enjoy exploring different sides of music creation beyond singing and songwriting.

Q: Where do you get your musical inspiration?

A: A lot of my inspiration comes from personal experiences, emotions and conversations. I am also inspired by films, visual art, travel and the different cultures I have experienced while living in both Ukraine and the United States.

Q: Who is your hero?

A: My heroes are people who continue creating and moving forward despite challenges. I have a lot of respect for artists, creatives and everyday people who stay true to themselves even during difficult times.

Q: Do you write your own music?

A: Yes. Being involved in the creative process is very important to me. I enjoy developing concepts, writing lyrics and helping shape the emotional direction of a song.

Q: If you were given a chance, which artist would you love to perform with?

A: I would love to perform with artists who blend strong vocals with innovative production. Collaborating with artists who push creative boundaries would be an incredible experience.

Q: What would you like our readers to know about you?

A: I want people to know that my music comes from a genuine place. Every release is connected to a real emotion, experience or story. I believe music has the power to connect people across different countries and backgrounds, and that is something I hope to continue doing through my work.

Feel free to tell our readers more about yourself and your music. Things like your goals in life, and what your current projects are. And also let them know where they can get your music or where you will be performing soon or regularly.

A: My debut single, “I Am Not Yours”, explores themes of independence, self-worth and emotional boundaries. The official music video was filmed in Kyiv with a fully Ukrainian cast and crew during wartime, which made the project especially meaningful to me. The release has received international radio support and media coverage, including a feature in Miami New Times and support from stations across multiple countries.
I am currently working on new music and expanding the Oleksa project internationally. My goal is to continue creating music that is emotionally honest while connecting with listeners around the world.
